The live remote exam requirements include:
- A laptop computer with at least 2 GB of RAM (to run the remote exam software)

How long is the CPC Exam?

What will the proctor ask?
The proctor won't do much once you've started the exam - but he will check you out thoroughly before the exam to make sure you don't have any extra notes, cameras, or computer screens around that someone less scrupulous than you might use to look up answers.

Who actually proctors the exam?
The CPC exam is currently proctored by the AAPC's testing partner, Meazure Learning. If you're taking the test in-person, the exam site will be at one of their test centers. If you're taking the exam online, one of their highly-trained proctors will be there virtually to guide you through.
How do I schedule my exam?
Once you have your AAPC membership and have purchased your exam attempts online, you'll be able to schedule online through Meazure Learning's website.
When you purchase your exam attempts, you'll receive an email from Meazure Learning with more details on how to schedule your exam date.
I'm nervous! Can I reschedule my exam?
Yes! You can reschedule your CPC exam up to 48 hours before the test date. If you cancel within 48 hours of the exam, your exam will be cancelled, but you will be considered a "no-show" - so cancel early!
Either way, there is no fee to cancel or reschedule your exam. All rescheduling can be done online through Meazure Learning's portal.

What can I have in the room with me during the CPC exam?
The CPC is pretty strict! To keep the test-taking policy fair for everyone, the room needs to be clear of:
- Extra screens
- Extra Computers
- Whiteboards, Calendars, and Sticky Notes, and any other place that might serve as a note-taking surface
- Cell and mobile phones, after the initial check-in process is complete
- The desk where you are taking your test should be clean, and
- Books, papers, and other items in your immediate test-taking area should be cleared away
Am I allowed to leave the room or take a break during the exam?
Yes! You will just need to have a security check again when you come back in. Just let the proctor know you are taking a break, and they'll let you know.
Do note that the exam time will continue going, though, so use your time efficiently. You can take as many breaks as you want.
Can I have a drink on my desk during the CPC exam?
Yes! You can absolutely have a drink on your desk during the CPC. Just make sure it's within view of the proctor, and doesn't have any writing on it. Water or some electrolytes are usually a good choice - drink away and stay hydrated!
